Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:12 tniv)

For our thought and contemplation based on the previous verse:

  • What does it mean to be chosen by God?

  • Why is it important to recognize that "holy" and "dearly loved" go together as descriptions of us as God's chosen people?

  • Why should we "clothe ourselves" with the virtues listed?

  • What is the difference between the command "clothe ourselves" with these virtues and "go do these things"?

  • Why do you think the Holy Spirit led Paul to include these virtues as the spiritual clothing they were wear as followers of Christ — compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience?
